Obituary:

Funeral Services for Walter H. Brown, 81, Weiser, who died Sunday, August 4, 1991 in a Boise hospital, will be held Thursday, August 8, at the Thomason funeral chapel, Weiser. The Rev. Claybrooks will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery, Weiser.

Walter was born November 2, 1909 at the family home on Mann Creek to William Thomas and Susie Ann Lanning Brown. He attended Weiser schools, graduating from Weiser High School. Walter attended Gonzaga University and the College of Idaho on a football scholarship. He married Letha Foreman on Feb 24, 1935, at Caldwell. He farmed in the Mann Creek area for many years, and later became associated with the Weiser Livestock Commission Co., retiring in 1974. For the past 10 years, he was actively involved in the Southwestern Idaho Senior Citizen Recreation Association.

Walter is survived by his wife Letha, a son Jerry Brown of Yreka, California, a son and daughter in law, Walter W. "Joe" and Diane Brown of Walla Walla, Washington, three daughters and sons in law, Charlotte and Al Claybrooks of Beech Grove, Indiana, Carrol Hester of Crescent City, California and Jim Hester of Weiser and Elaine and Dennis Johnson of Bremerton, Washington; his mother, Susie Herner of Weiser, two sisters, Edith Bain of Potlach, Idaho and Goldie Mann of Weiser; a brother Henry Brown of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
